1. Clean Out Your Bags

Most of us end up with tons of receipts, sticky notes, and items that just seem to collect in our wallets and bags. This is one organization task most of us put off. Eventually, our wallet and bags become just another junk drawer.

Start by emptying all the contents of your wallet or bag and start from scratch. It’s also helpful to combine like items to get started. Place your cash and cards in separate piles, receipts, and coupons in piles, and so on.

Next, tackle each pile with a critical eye. What do you NEED and what can you live without? Which items can be filed and what just doesn’t belong in there in the first place?

You’ll find it’s easier to declutter and organize your wallet, purse, and bags than you thought. Plus, you’ll feel better each time you reach in for something and can find it easily.

2. Hang a Few Hooks in a Strategic Area

Decorative hooks are a great way to get clutter off the floor and furniture. A quick look on Pinterest will show you amazing places to organize coats, backpacks, purses, and jewelry.

Whether you choose to start by adding them in your entryway or bathroom, organizing your space with hooks takes little time but creates a big win.

3. Color-Coordinate Your Closet

If you aren’t already color-coordinating, we highly recommend it. Not only does it keep your closet organized, it lifts your spirits when you start your day with a rainbow in your closet. It’s also a fairly easy task and fun place to begin your organizing habits.

We aren’t suggesting you declutter and purge your closet just yet. Remember, baby steps to jumpstart your organization. Rearrange by color and take the win.

We want you to build up to tackling big projects so you’re more likely to stick with it!

4. Organize One Junk Drawer

Choose one junk drawer to declutter and organize. Assuming you have a few, focusing on one will help you feel less overwhelmed and set the stage for a win.

Next, decide what that drawer will be utilized for. Don’t get ahead of yourself and grab items from other areas. Focus your efforts on what is currently in this drawer and what you don’t need.

If you have drawer organizers, now is the time to use them. If not, consider grabbing a few to keep you from cluttering your drawer within the week. You’ll be able to keep your necessities tidy and easy to find when you need them.

5. Organize Your Master Bathroom Counter

Organizing your master bathroom counter may include jewelry, makeup brushes, or other toiletries. It’s easy to leave items lying around when you’re in a rush in the morning, but remember, everything has a place.

Prioritize your items and keep only those things you need at your fingertips. Find a spot in a drawer or cubby for the rest. If you’re low on bathroom storage space, consider utilizing decorative baskets or makeup organizers. They will help keep your bathroom counter decluttered and organized.

Before you know it, you’ll be ready to declutter and organize every space in your home or office!
